Cooperation over Conflict

Our story

CORC is a contraction of “Cooperation Over Conflict” that developed out of a research project. This concept forged a passion in us to develop an organization dedicated to eliciting the strengths and abilities of individuals, family members and community members in order to create an amazing society. We are a small dedicated team aiding in illuminating and enhancing the skills of those who wish to realize their most sustainable, healthy and ideal futures for themselves, their family and community..

Our vision

Our mission is to provide therapeutic guidance to our community-family that engenders a healthier relationship between parents and children, couples, people and their community and individuals within themselves. Our goal is to convey as many practical ideas as possible to enrich families, care for neighbors and harmonize the community by strengthening the relationship between parents and children, couples, people and their community and individuals within themselves.

Bernadette Enojo, Amft

Associate Marriage Family Therapist

MS - Marriage and Family Therapy

Since earning my MA, I have cared for children and families from a diverse range of challenges and abilities. I witnessed the potential for each individual to create a life of emotional resilience and mental wellness. In the therapy room my approach is warm, mindful, curious, and engaging. I use a variety of therapy modalities depending on the individual’s needs: child-centered play therapy, acceptance and commitment, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My goal is to honor where each person is at in their journey and hold space they are seeking during our time together.

Navigating major life events and daily stressors alone can be hard. Often, we repeat patterns that we are not aware of and that no longer serve us. Whether your goal is to break old habits or find new ones, I provide a space for healing, validation, and reflection. I believe that the client is the expert in their life and experience and as such I will take your lead. When I am not working with clients I enjoy spending my time with my family, hiking, or crafting.

"In all cultures, the family imprints its members with selfhood. Human experience of identity has two elements: a sense of belonging and a sense of being separate. The laboratory in which these ingredients are mixed and dispensed is the family, the matrix of identity." ~ Salvador Minuchin

I have a passion for helping others build a solid support system by assisting them with the necessary tools to get them through life. By working at CORC, it has given me the opportunity to support individuals with various presenting problems such as: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, familial or couple conflicts, as well as those who struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Structural Family Therapy (SFT), allows me to support my clients in understanding patterns of poor behaviors by establishing boundaries, identifying core beliefs, reframing negative thinking as well as learning how to adjust to healthier, interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. It is my calling to bring my knowledge and compassion to each therapeutic session. I am also a certified Facilitator for Domestic Violence, Child Batterers and Parenting. For the past 3 years, I have had the opportunity to work with court-mandated individuals (both men and women) as their educator about the justice system as well as learning strategies to manage their anger, increase coping skills, build appropriate parenting styles, and learn how to regulate emotion

Over the years, as a military spouse, I learned the importance of community connection especially during the times when my husband deployed or went on TDYs. It’s this sense of community that became one of my driving forces to serve others with purpose. Even as an undergraduate studying psychology at LSU-Shreveport, my interest in this purpose stemmed more around understanding the complexity of systems theory and analyzing how individuals within the whole navigate life from their experiences. I believe everyone has their truth to tell. I am passionate about working with clients' self-development, mirroring their strengths, reframing their negative self-talk, and encouraging them to develop self-awareness. I let my clients take on the responsibility towards change, as well as identifying these changes through questions that guide them towards emotional well-being as they see fit. This interest allows me both, professionally and privately, to build solutions with a hopeful heart by creating an atmosphere of being well and being kind. It’s been a huge blessing that I have had the opportunity to work with CORC for a total of five years. Clients who sit across from me (in person or video) will have the benefit of receiving knowledge I have developed over the years with my team and experts in the field. Once licensed, my goal is to continue working at CORC, continue to build my clientele with more of a focus on couples therapy, become trauma focus certified, learn more about neuropsychology and either facilitate or co-facilitate open or closed groups. Oh yeah… there was once a time I played women’s rugby. I guess in my truth, this is where community connection planted my journey.

The journey we call life can present unexpected obstacles and challenges, which may cause discomfort and negatively affect how we view ourselves and our environment. However, when courage enables us to face these obstacles and challenges, a new meaning and purpose can be created. My own life journey led me into the field of social work and through that journey, led me to become a psychotherapist. My passion working with adolescents and families developed during the years as a social worker. I specifically enjoyed working with youths who are at risk and are victims of exploitation, as well as assisting them with multitude of barriers, mental health disorders, severe trauma and assisting their transitioning into adulthood. I have been at CORC for 8 years, where my clinicals skills have enriched. My approach with clients is humanistic and person-centered. I often integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Bowen's Family Systems and Existentialism theory to help my clients identify their obstacles and challenges, learn new life skills, discover their strengths, recognize their own ability to heal, create balance, and change. I am honored to work with the individuals and families who invite me to be part of their life journey. I have been a lead worker in CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children)/ Human Trafficking and am trained in SOP, MI, cultural sensitivity, harm-reduction, and Trauma Informed care.
